Battersea Park by Ross McRae
My Musical Box
It stands upon my dressing table
Cream and gold a red turntable
The pink lady dances the music plays
A familiar tune from olden days
Doors that open with gold that gleams
Brings forth facts and not just dreams
A gift of love to cherish forever
With magical links never to sever
As I sit and listen to the music play
It brings back memories of yesterday
It holds the secrets of my youth
A lock of hair my first milk tooth
Two blue drawers two are red
Treasures sleep on a cotton wool bed
A cross and chain a silver shoe
A gold necklace and bracelet too
I close the lid until another day
The memories gradually fade away
Perhaps another memory I will find
To add to those already mine
Mary Cox
If This is a Poet
A torrent of ideas
Floods my mind,
Ending a drought.
Logic suspended,
Lateral thinking rules.
Hallelujah! Over and out.
Drowning in my own thoughts
I am relieved
To be back on dry land.
Was that the fount of poetry?
Be of prosaic mind
And stay well above ground.
Michael Weston.
